Desert Chic - My Wedding Theme

Can it be done? This "Desert Chic" theme I have all planned out in my head...
I'm in love with Palm Springs, CA. I've moved back to this hot and windy place on earth that I call heaven more times than I'd like to admit. It's the only place that I feel at peace and grounded. I've placed my roots down in this sandy place and I fondly call it home. What a better place to have your wedding, than your home? Many people travel from far and wide to bask in the warm, perfect weather we get 9 months out of the year... the other three months I don't want to talk about! (haha, HOT HOT HOT!)

Our wedding date was originally, June 28th, 2013. Umm... NOT GONNA HAPPEN! As we traveled around the valley looking at promising venues for our special day I could slowly see us melting in the summer heat. How could we do that to our lovely guests while they watch us wed? I will not subject them to grueling, sun baking weather just so they can watch us wed. So we've decided to go back to the calendar and see what other date we can come up with. With that said I'd love to share some of my theme ideas! Here are a couple of pictures; they are all borrowed and are linked back to the original owners if you go onto my pinterest wedding board here: http://pinterest.com/madypie/wedding/.

I really do think this theme can work, I just hope our budget will be able to fund what my dreams look like!

Wedding Band - The Symbol for Eternity?

The wedding band is said to come from ancient Egyptian custom. The fourth finger, or ring finger, was believed to have a special vein that connected to the heart, and plant rings were fashioned to symbolize everlasting love.

Our American Tradition:

The saying "closest to your heart" has become popular as that is where the wedding band should be placed. Though an engagement ring can symbolize a "staked claim," a wedding band symbolizes a lifelong commitment.

So my question is, do you need 2 rings or is it more just "tradition" or "status" to have the engagement and wedding ring? I personally would love a wedding band because I believe it symbolizes a never ending cycle, eternity and commitment. I have a few friends that would beg to differ, even my fiance thinks we should do the wedding ring along with my engagement ring.

I'm pretty torn, but in any case we are still browsing :) I mean who hates to shop for jewelry right?! (*cough *cough, NOT ME!)

I'm going to keep it simple since I absolutely adore my engagement ring, it looks similar to the picture below.

How do you drop the weight before the wedding?

I stand here before you admitting that I am the world's best dieter! NOT! I do not enjoy exercise! So how will I drop this weight? Well, I'm determined. I'd like to lose 15 lbs, but my goal would be 30! Go big or go home right? LOL I've decided to go with the "Couch to 5k" iphone application and combine that with the low carb, high protein diet. I'm praying desperately that my willpower will withstand my craving for chocolate. Baby Jesus, keep me strong! (haha)

Measurements:
Waist- 37
Hips-35
R Arm- 13
L Arm- 12.5

Our Wedding, 2013...

Let me welcome you into my world. Hi, my name is Amber and I'm layers apon layers of quirky, loyal, loving and unintentional crazy. My day to day consists of being a mommy and being a fiance. I've embarked on a journey recently called, "let's plan a wedding". I've never been on a journey like this before, even though I have been married in the past. But before I was just a stupid teen who got herself into a wee bit of adulthood before she was ready for it. Now, after an 8 year courtship and a 3 year long engagement I'm ready to embark on this thing called marriage!

We've hired a fabulous wedding planner from a business called "Events by Renee" (you can follow her on twitter https://twitter.com/EventsRenee) and I picked out a theme to go along with our home city of Palm Springs. I like to call it "Desert Chic". I'm fully embracing the true desert of Palm Springs without the many golf courses and resort hotels. I want to do things in the midst of nature. Yep, I want to brave the strong winds out here and the grueling heat that we can encounter! I want the backdrop to be mountains, blue skies, joshua trees, sand and windmills. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out in the end! Our budget would be: $0 but since we are dedicated to making this happen we will be cutting corners and digging deep into our pockets to find the money that we need to have our special day!

We plan to fund some of our wedding by the earnnings collected from our Scentsy Business: www.scentsy.us/madypie. The other way will be from our PTO, Tax refunds and selling home made bows and tutu's, etc. (I'm quite a crafty person). Come join us on our adventure, the planning, the stress, the heartache, the joy, the learning lessons and the "Happy Ending"! If you want to see my ideas, I've joined pinterest and started collecting some ideas of what I'd love my dream wedding to include. Please follow this link in order to follow me on my board! Have a  great Monday! xoxox ~A
